Halloween in Punta Gorda

Venturing into downtown Punta Gorda on Halloween we spotted the Addams Family and Uncle Festus with a light bulb hanging out of his mouth, a walking tree, several little fuzzy animals, many pirates and witches, a team of Charlie Chaplins, a Tampa Ray killed by the Phillies, too many ghosts, lots of Luke Skywalkers and McCain and Palin among others.

On Halloween the historic area of downtown Punta Gorda is transformed into a disney of haunted houses which residents have appointed with burning cauldrons, spooky and slimy creatures, gauzy webs drooping from trees and rafters. Eery music and effects including a mysterious detached hand, skeltons dangling here and yon, graveyards, lighted pumpkins and more attract hundreds of costumed halloweeners to our town.

You haven't experienced Halloween until you've been in Punta Gorda.
