Wicked flies High at the Barbara Mann

With tickets still remaining for the last six performances of this astounding show, it's still not too late to "ease on down the road" to one of Southwest Florida's best theatrical venues, the Barbara Mann at Edison in Fort Myers to be thoroughly enthralled by Wicked.  Because when Marcie Dodd, as Elphaba -- the green Wicked Witch of the West belts out "Defying Gravity" and starts flying high in a spectacle of light, it's hard not to be dazzled.  Others have done the reviews --- some just soso to be honest.  But for someone who stayed away from the book, the reviews, even the music to avoid spoiling the freshness of the moment and  who was totally prepared to be enchanted, I was just that--totally enchanted.

What's truly amazing  is that we can be at the Mann and see a phenomenal, first-class Broadway show only 35-40 minutes from our Punta Gorda home.   We took to the road at around 4:30, had dinner in Fort Myers at Bone Fish Grill and headed over to the Mann, without dealing with traffic and crowds.  The only issue I have with the Mann is the parking lot.  Please, please when you have a draw like Wicked, isn't  reasonable to have some people helping with the parking flow -- even if you have to upcharge for it.

More on ticket availability and the Mann at Barbara Mann Performing Arts Theatre.
