Punta Gorda Keeps Getting Better All The Time

Just got great news from our City Manager.  The final piece of the Harbor Walk, extending from Fishermen's Village  to past the Harbor Walk condos, is to be voted on at the next City Council Meeting on April 15, as part of a larger proposal involving a marina and mooring field  in front of  the Best Western Hotel and Benedettos Restaurant.  The gap in the  Harbor Walk is  in front of the Best Western.  The pathway being proposed  would connect Gilchrist Park with the underpass under the 41 Bridge allowing walkers to get to the Charlotte Harbor Event Center without having to go off the Walk  and cut across the Best Western parking lot.

Right after Hurricane Charley when Team Punta Gorda was first organized and had their initial charettes, I was part of the teams that put together the initial vision for what the citizens of Punta Gorda wanted our city to become.  The Harbor Walk was a large part of that vision as was a mooring field....and now I can see the final stages of Team Punta Gorda's inital planning coming to fruition.  Yeh! And cudos to our City Management for keeping this dream alive and making it happen.

Also, signaling some closure to reconstruction efforts, the last of the building cranes will disappear soon as the Herald Court parking lot nears completion.  At least for awhile, the only cranes Punta Gorda will have will be Sand ones.
