This weekend Charlie Daniels and his Band come rolling into town. Grammy-award winning Daniels, among other things, wrote music for Elvis Presley and played in sessions with Bob Dylan, Johnny Cash and Leonard Cohen. A singer, songwriter, guitarist, and fiddler, his songs have consistently hit the country and pop charts. Best known for "The Devil went down to Georgia," which hit #3 on the charts and appeared in soundtrack of "Urban Cowboy," Daniels will be appearing at the Charlotte Country Motorsports Park on Saturday night. For the ladies, the Chippendale's will perform one night only, Friday, June 5 at Harpoon Harry's. Details below.

Tonight, June 4
At the Visual Arts Center, Punta Gorda, 7 PM, there will be a public reception for the opening of the "Firecracker Exhibit" featuring newer works by VAC members in a variety of media. Exhibit continues through July 9.
At Biehl's Slip Not, 1601 Tamiami Trail, Punta Gorda Two Can Jam (You Tube Video) at 7 PM.
At the NAV-A-GATOR, above Charlotte Harbor on the Peace River (take Kings Highway), Jim Morris appears at 6 PM. Catch him before he flies north with the birds.
At Gilchrist Park, Punta Gorda, Guitar Army, 6-10 PM. Join local musicians for jamin'.
Friday After Dark, June 5
At Fishermen's Village, 5-9 PM, the Yard Dogs perform center stage.
At Biehl's Slip Not, 1601 Tamiami Trail, Punta Gorda, The Crashers,(http://www.thecrashersband.net/) perform at 8 PM
At Harpoon Harry's The Chippendale's come to Charlotte County. Advance tickets are $20, At the Door $25. Call 637-1177.
At Cafe Ruelle, Lou Canoe performs 7-10 PM
Daytime
At Fishermen's Village, there will be a free wildlife/animal awareness expo from 10-3 PM. New this year is the Mote Marine Mobile Laboratory Exhibit, an 850 gallon tank featuring fish, shells and other marine creatures. The Southwest K9 Academy will also perform demonstrations between 11 AM and 1 PM at center court.
At Harpoon Harry's, Junior Flatsmaster Tournament Weigh-in 2:30 PM.
After Dark
At the Ice House, Gas House Gorillas.
At Charlotte County Motorsports Park gates open at 5 PM for "Rednecks and Racing" with the Charlie Daniels Band performing at 9 PM. Tickets start at $25.
At Biehl's Slip Not, 1601 Tamiami Trail, Punta Gorda, Tight Squeeze takes the stage at 8 PM.
At Fishermen's Village Center Stage, Sean & Rama "Montage" Variety and Dance music 5-9 FREE.
