This Weekend in Punta Gorda Hibiscus Festival and Much More and More

Highlight of the Weekend -- National Hibiscus Festival

Since 1926 Punta Gorda has been known as the City of Hibiscus, and beginning in 2004 the designation has been accented with a festival.  Kicking off the Hibiscus Festival this weekend will be Thursday's Hibiscus-themed Gallery Walk.

An alfresco dinner at Gilchrist Park will be Friday night's highlight, followed by a fully packed schedule Saturday. A tropical plant sale, farmer's market, seafood market, secret garden tours, hibiscus bicycle tour, sailboat regatta and Art in the Park exhibit will be just some of the festivities planned for this popular Punta Gorda event.  This year's featured flower, the Punta Gorda Passion, a big pink semi-double bloom is a brand new hybrid, that will be unveiled at the festival by award winning grower Curt Sinclair. For more information on the festival see the Punta Gorda Hibiscus Festival Website.
