On October 3rd 2009, (Girls Night Out) and Budweiser (Peace River Distributing) will again be partnering with nine Punta Gorda bars for the second annual "Bar Stool Open" benefiting services provided by Dollars For Mammograms, in Charlotte County. Last year's inaugural event raising over $10,000, enabling almost 275 woman to get needed screenings.
Many of Punta Gorda's local taverns are participating including: the Ice House Pub, River City Grill, Benedetto's Steakhouse, Biehl's Slip-Not Lounge, Phil’s 41, Beef O'Brady's, Bin 82, Deans's South of the Border, and Presseller Delicatessen. The event is a nine- hole miniature golf tournament . Just get a team of four (4) "putters" together, men and/or women and sign up at one of the participating locations. The cost is $25.00 per person or $100 for a team. The event begins with a shotgun start at 11:00 AM and ends with a wrap up party at 6:00 PM at Biehl’s Slip-Not Lounge. Prizes will be awarded through out the day and for best finishing score.
All funds raised will go to "Dollars for Mammograms", a nonprofit public foundation established solely for the purpose of providing no cost mammograms to area women who are uninsured or underinsured and cannot afford the cost of a mammogram. GNO (Girls Night Out) is a social group of local business women that gather bi-weekly. While their primary focus is networking and socializing, they pride themselves in lending a helping hand to charitable organizations.
