Art, Music, Early Halloween and More This Weekend in Punta Gorda

The Fine Arts Festival at the Visual Arts Center continues this weekend with two events:
  • 'Leo vs. Mike: the Competition" will be presented Saturday at 8 PM. and Sunday at 2 PM  at the VAC.  The play is an original comedy written by Larry Stewart featuring historical and modern-day characters including DaVinci and Michelangelo. ($10) 
  • A mask-making workshop for children on Saturday at 10 AM ($15)

And, of course, the VAC is open on Saturday from 10-2 for viewing the "Leo vs Mike" exhibition as well as the Fall Exhibit now on display.

Here are some other goings on and entertainment for your Punta Gorda Weekend

Tonight : 

The Crashers will be peforming at Harpoon Harry's from 9 PM.

Singer/Songerwriter Michael Hirst will be entertaining with his Jim Croce/James Taylor sound  at River City Grill from 6:30 PM.

At Fishville, Center Stage, Singer/Piano Player Pat Walsh performs 5-9 pm.

Tropical Ave. is at Biehl's at 8 PM... sit under the stars in a  "Pirates of the Carribean" atmosphere you'd only find in Florida



On Saturday: 


During the day Salty Paws is sponsoring a  Halloween for pets, "Barkoberfest" with a Pet Costume Contest from 11 a.m to 1. am at Center Court, Fishville. (Preregister required)


Jim Morris brings his Octoberfish Concert to Laishley Park.  For more details see Jim Morris Octoberfish Concert.


The Bayfront Center YMCA presents Mini Antique Road Show, 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at 750 W. Retta Esplanade, Punta Gorda. The Public is welcome to bring art, jewelry, china, crystal, collectables, small pieces of furniture, and even vintage autos to be appraised. Cost, $5 for two items.

Harpoon Harry's at Fishville is running Halloween Costume Contests all day, from 12 to 3 for kids, after 9 for adults.  The Crashers perform tonight as well.

At Fishville, Center Stage Father/Daughter Duo "Magen & Mike" perform variety and dance music 5-9 pm.

Coastal Jamz at Biehl's starting jamming at 8.  


A little further afield -- Cape Coral's Octoberfest begins this weekend and happens again on next Saturday and Sunday.  It's the largest in SW Florida and not that far from Punta Gorda at the German Social Club.
