Punta Gorda season is starting to fall in place with lots of goings on this weekend. Here are some ideas for having a Punta Great weekend:
Tonight
The Boogiemen, a favorite, are at Harpoon Harry's this weekend both Friday and Saturday night and as they report on their Facebook page, there will be "whole lotta shakin goin on"
Nice night to dance outside at Biehl's Slip Not starting at 8 p.m. -- Sammy J and the Guys
At Table 209, Danny Sinoff will be performing Jazz vocal and Keyboard.
The Perfect Caper has live jazz, Mabel is on the piano at the Captain's Table.
Friday night is Caribbean Night at Jacks on Marian downtown with food and drink specials and live music starting at 6pm.
For Elks, the Punta Gorda Lodge tonight hosts BLUE BUYOU right on the Peace River.
Saturday, October 16, During the Day
The Leo vs. Mike Fine Arts Festival kicks off at the Visual Arts Center with an open house for the public to view the Festival exhibit starting at 10 a.m. and a free 45 minute video and lecture by Liz Hutchinson. starting at noon. Bring a brown-bag lunch.
The Charlotte Harbor Community Sailing Center hosts a free Youth Sailing Day from noon to 5 P.M at Bayfront Center on the harbor at Retta Esplanade.
Ultimate Rib Fest at Laishley Park from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m..
Critics Circle at the Peace River Center for Writers, Edison State College will be held 10 a.m to noon.
The Weekly Farmers Market outside the Old Courthouse goes from 8 a.m to noon. Great place to pick up veggies for the week, and browse about for other goodies.
And on Saturday Night, October 16
Edison Pops at Sunset, with the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra and Steve March-Torme, starting at 7:00 p.m., gates open at 5 p.m. Call 941-637-5604 for ticket information.
Mike Imbasciani performs classic rock from 5-9 PM at center stage in Fishermen's Village.

Isles Yacht Club will host a public open house from 2 p.m to 5 p.m -- free hot dogs and soda, and tour of the facilities.
Sunday Farmer's Market at the History Park is a great place to walk among the flowers, listen to music and patronize some great vendors.
