This blog doesn't deal with politics. But we do deal with the future of our County and this coming primary election is about that. I won't get into why it happens this way, but many of our
County office candidates are elected by the primary not the general election in November. And this particular primary is an important one. It will determine who our County Sheriff will be... one of the most important positions in the County.. and will almost certainly determine who will hold at least two of our Commissioner positions. The next County Appraiser and County Clerk and more officials will likely be the persons who win the primary.
That said, I encourage all Charlotte County residents to vote. You can vote by mail, even if you not absent. All you have to do is call, go on-line or go down to one of the County Supervisor of
Elections offices... the Punta Gorda one is at the Court House... and request a ballot. You have up to 6 days before the election which is on August 14 to do that. You can early vote between August 4 and August 11... in Punta Gorda at the Court House between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. Or you can vote August 14 at your precinct election site. If you don't know which it is, there is a tool on the Charlotte Votes... website address below.. that can help you determine it.
Most importantly, vote informed. Find out the education, background, experience, and positions of the candidates you vote for. Don't vote blind, you can easily get blindsided by all the rhetoric and signs, etc.
For more information on voting and candidates, go to the Supervisor of Elections very informative website www.charlottevotes.com.
