13th Annual Punta Gorda Isles Boat Parade Tomorrow Night
Tomorrow night as the sun descends over Punta Gorda, a spectacle in light will begin winding its way through the canals of Punta Gorda Isles. The 13th annual Punta Gorda Saturday Night Before Christmas Parade will glisten in the night sky as boats bedecked in illuminated Santa Clauses, reindeer, Frosties, elves and other Christmas images delight spectators in homes edging the canals and others who have descended onto vacant lots in the isles.
If you aren't already a homeowner on one of the canals where the parade floats by or haven't been invited to party in one of them, you can get a spot on one of the many vacant lots.
The easiest viewing areas to find are the vacant lots between the Bal Harbor Place condos and the Harbor Landing condos. This area is just past Albatross Drive on Bal Harbor Blvd. The vacant lots on Casey Key are easy to get to and also offer great viewing. Great viewing sights can be had at the vacant lots on LaCosta Island Lagoon. The parade passes the length of the lagoon both ways providing two views of each boat.
The vacant lots at the north end of Antigua Drive at Ponce Inlet are a favorite spot to view the show. Parade viewers have a visual of the entire parade as it comes down the rim canal, and the vacant lots on Coronado Drive are an excellent place the see the boats because they pass by twice and slow down for the turns into and out of the lagoon.
Boaters can view the parade from their boats. They can find many places to anchor on the wide western end of the rim canal. Come in Ponce Inlet until you arrive at Punta Gorda Isles. Turn right on the broad canal on the right, the Rim Canal. Anchor anywhere along the mangroves that is suitable.
