Where to have Breakfast in and near Punta Gorda

A couple of months ago  I wrote a blurb on my favorite meal of the day -- breakfast.  You can read it at  http://youbelonginpuntagorda.blogspot.com/2008/09/breakfast-in-punta-gorda.html.

Here is a list of some of the best breakfast spots in Punta Gorda.

Brenda's Airport and Taylor at the Masonic Lodge in Punta Gorda.
A real local place where born-and-raised
Punta Gordeans have breakfast.  Great oatmeal, eggs, french toast and pancakes.    Don't miss Brenda's sausage patties. Don't expect anything fancy here. Just good food.

Burnt Store Grille in Burnt Store Plaza near Burnt Store Isles, 3941 Tamiami Trail, Punta Gorda. (941) 575-2757.
Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Great breakfast menu, fast service.  All the standards.  Excellent omelets.  Very casual, pleasant atmosphere.

Elena's 615 Cross Street off Rt. 41. in Punta Gorda. (941) 575-1888 Diner-style.
Large, scrumptious portions.  Great omelets, pancakes could be best in area, french toast etc.

The Punta Gorda Elks Lodge (members only) Beautiful site along the Peace River serving breakfast every 2nd and 4th Sunday of the month with great made-to-order omelet bar, eggs, pancakes.  Includes coffee and juice for one price.

Jack's on Marion Ave. in Downtown Punta Gorda.  Breakfast Friday and Saturday.  See write up on Jack's.

IHOP  1501 Tamiami Trail, Punta Gorda  If you haven't been at an IHOP you wouldn't be reading this.  This is a good one.

Roosters 321 Taylor St. Punta Gorda

Also watch for special Sunday breakfasts --- many of  the local churches serve pancake breakfasts for one fixed price that are very good.

  1. Don't forget Smokey's Smokehouse on Cooper Street for a fun and casual breakfast. You actually sit at picnic tables! We stopped after leaving the HarborSide Surgery Center where my husband had fasted since the prior evening. He LOVED the bisquits and gravy!

Also, the United Methodist Church on Marion Avenue has a full Pancake Breakfast on the second Saturday of the month (from 8-10 AM), that is open to the community. The proceeds from these well attended events help fund their charitable donations.
