Right before the band came on, the announcer noted that it was the first time that Morris and his group were taking the main stage. Morris wowed the crowed filled with Parrot Heads and plain ole Jim Morris lovers with favorite renditions including "The Floating Opera," "No Beer Today," and "Nav-A-Gator Afternoon". When he broke into "Twenty Dollar Bills" the audience responded with throwing bills onto the stage to be given to the local shoe drive for kids.
We managed to put away a few beers, a crab cake sandwich, fries, kettle corn-- and there was a lot more to choose from--before heading out and catching a dance to the Yard Dogs as we left for the day.
The block party was lots of fun as it is every spring, but I did miss that there was no formerly big name nostalgia band as had been in the past. I remember seeing Edgar Winter, Doctor Hook...
