The long dreamed about linear park -- part of the initial ideas that came from early Team Punta Gorda charettes after Hurricane Charley will soon become a reality. Beginning Monday, February 8, 2010 construction of the Linear Park Phase I will commence in the City of Punta Gorda.
The project, located on Alice Street right-of-ways between West Retta Esplanade and West Olympia Avenue, will include construction of a ten-foot wide asphalt sidewalk, wooden pedestrian foot bridge, landscaping, irrigation, lighting, brick pavers, artificial turf, storm water improvements and decorative fencing. Completion of the project is anticipated for May 31, 2010.
During the contruction, one lane of traffic will be closed to traffic on West Marion Avenue and West Olympia Avenue while workers install brick paver cross walks.
When driving in the area, motorists are encouraged to drive with extreme caution and be alert for workers in the right-of-ways.
