"Hey Baby They're Playing Our Song" is just one of the oldies but goodies that will be blasting out this Saturday downtown as part of the 24th annual Punta Gorda Block Party with headliners, the Buckinghams, who not only took this song to the top of the charts but are perhaps more better known for "Kind of a Drag" and also "Don't You Care" and "Mercy, Mercy, Mercy." If you don't remember ttheir sound with the Chicago "horn" bit at the beginning, take a walk down memory lane at their website. It isn't often that Punta Gorda brings chart-reaching bands to town...maybe not so current...but hey... so the block party is definitely the place to be this weekend. Besides the Buckinghams some of the best of the local bands are also showing up including favorite Jim Morris who just released his new Trop Rock album this past weekend, The Boogiemen, Low Rent, The Crashers and Democracy.
