An Easter Celebration at Gallery Walk Tonight in Downtown Punta Gorda

Tonight's Gallery Walk  from 5 to 8 p.m.  in downtown Punta Gordawill celebrate Easter with an Easter game. Visitors can get their Easter game cards stamped at any of 13 participating merchants and the lucky winner will receive a $70.00 chocolate Easter basket, designed by Swiss Chocolate.   Also at the chocolate shop, you can visit with the Friends of the Punta Gorda Library and sip a little wine as you learn about the library. Participating merchants this month are: Pilates for Life, Sea Grape Gallery, Big "D" Chicago Eatery, A New Beginning Hair Salon, Peter's Knife Shop, Swiss Chocolate+, Creations Gallery, The Yoga Sanctuary, Jack's Restaurant and Bar, River City Grill, Centennial Bank, Florida Community Bank, Kay's Kloset. In keeping with the Easter theme, Kay's Kloset and Design Accent Interiors will serve samplings of Easter Ham Biscuits and provide music by an all-girl band called "Beaches." Cross Marion Avenue North to find the shoppes in the big yellow building.  "Harvey" is said to be visible at Florida Gulf Coast University in the Herald Court building, home to the Artisan's Atelier.  FGCU is hosting a reception for artist Peg Stunkard tonight.  Peg medium is watercolor and pen and ink. They are serving Mimosas and Munchies with their movie.

Along with their egg hunt, Sea Grape Gallery has art demonstrations by three of their artists: Cynthia McIntyre will be demoing fused glass, Pat Joiner will demonstrate her special watercolor pencil technique, and Phil Krym will demonstrate wood finishing.

Centennial Bank brings the music of Paul Cottrell, an area favorite. They have invited local artists to show original paintings, photography, glass-work, beaded creations and jewelry, which you can enjoy while tasting a bit of bubbly and cheese and crackers.

Creations Gallery will feature two popular local artists. Roxie Vetter is known for her large, brilliantly colored and textured acrylic collages. She will demo her fun art too: inexpensive beaded forks which are perfect for hostess gifts. Clif Lundberg is known for his large, graphics-inspired fine art creations. He also shows his unique wood and lacquer works. 

Check out the new home of the  Yoga Sanctuary. They are located on Sullivan Street, North of Marion. Sunart Gallery and Framing will feature the original oil paintings of Bonita Williams Goldberg. Laura Schulkinwill be there to sign her book, "Happy to be Mia."

Brown Suga Band will be at Jack's Restaurant and Bar and then there is the Celtic Ray's Comedy Night  for fun with five different comedians,

Each of the downtown art galleries and boutique shops will be featuring exhibits and demonstrations by the area's finest artists. Food and drink samplings as well as live sidewalk entertainment is abundant throughout the downtown, and parking is plentiful and free. Gallery Walk maps are available at all downtown businesses and Chambers of Commerce.
