Lots Going on this Punta Gorda Weekend as Season Starts to Bloom

You only had to be at Gilchrist Park last night as the crowds gathered to listen to the tunes from the Guitar Army at the Gazebo and dance to the light of the moon at the pavilion to know that Punta Gorda's season was beginning to blossom.   This weekend  there's a broad lineup of entertainment for both full-timers and snowbirds including several special events and nightly music at Punta Gorda's favorite watering holes.  Here's some ideas for your Punta Gorda weekend:   

Special Events:

Aquasol 2011 at the Wyvern Roof on Saturday and Sunday -- all day pool, music, dancing and fun from noon.
Annual Pop's Concert at Edison College 
4th Annual Rib Fest at Laishley Park


Friday Night, October 14

At Biehl's Slip Not: Low Rent  from 8 p.m. 
At Harpoon Harry's: The Boogiemen  from 9 p.m.
At Fishermen's Village Center Stage:  Magen and Mike  performs from 5 p.m.
At the Captain's Table:  Maurey Dewey (Pianist/Vocalist)
At the Punta Gorda Elks:  For members:   MC Squared  perform.
At Dean's South of the Border:  Deuces Wild From 7 p.m.
At Closer to the VinePeter Taylor  from 7-10 p.m.
At the Wyvern Rooftop: Brown Suga from 8 p.m.
At lll: Music by DJ Jewel from 10 pm. to 2 a.m. 


Saturday Night,  October 15

At Fishermen's Village Center Stage: Michael Hirst  from  5-9 pm.
At Biehl's Slip-Not:  Boca Band from 8 p.m.
At Harpoon Harry's The Boogiemen from 9 p.m.
At Dean's South of the Border:  Copperheads from 7 p.m.
At the Captain's Table:  Maurey Dewey (Pianist/Vocalist)
At Closer to the Vine: Mike Carrigan from 7 p.m. 
At Portobellos, Burnt Store Marino: Brown Suga performs 6:30-9:30 pm.

And as always don't forget to check out the weekly farmer's markets: Saturday downtown in front of the court house; Sunday at the History Park.
