Some Cool Upcoming Events in Punta Gorda first weekend in October

Last year at the beginning of October, Punta Gorda held its first Ocktorfest in front of the Court House sponsored by the Downtown Merchant's Association. For a first effort, it was a terrific event with delicious German food, entertainment, and dancing in the streets. Because it was new, many of our friends missed the event. Well here is a toggle to put on your calendar Punta Gorda's OKTOBERFEST on Friday October 2nd from 6 til 10pm in front of the old courthouse on Taylor street. Real authentic German ump pah music will fill the air to dance to in the street and lots of Sausages, Sauerkraut, Pretzels, Dessert and BEER AND WINE will be there to eat!.

Here's a picture I took last year.

Then on SATURDAY, October 3, Farmers Market starts its new winter hours from 8 til 1 p.m . Also on October 3 is the "Barstool Open". Details on this event were reported in http://youbelonginpuntagorda.blogspot.com/2009/07/girls-night-out-and-budweiser-peace.html.

There will also be an all-day breast cancer awareness event at Fishermen's Village on Saturday, October 3, "Think Pink." Activities will include: a symposium presented by American Cancer Society, a Pink Progressive Tea Party, Brighton and Pandora Breast Cancer Bracelet, Pink T-Shirts, Pink Pets On Parade, Pink Paint on The Pier (pink toes for the cure), a bra decorating contest, plaster "busts" decorated by local artists, Memorial Tree, Parade for survivors/memorial walk. A Live Concert will feature Nashville favorite, Chris MacArthur performing his hit single "Tough Enough to Wear Pink", 5-9 pm, Center Stage.
