There are many special traditions connected with our Christmas holidays. None perhaps more treasured than the sharing of Christmas greetings through the exchange of Christmas cards. It's partially the joy of reconnecting with friends and relatives you just don't see as much, partially just the fun of getting all that holiday mail and delighting at the newest Hallmark or other new card company inventions. Every year Punta Gorda one ups this by blowing up the traditional greetings into giant-sized replicas that adorn the path through Gilchrist Park adjacent to the harbor. The cards prepared by local professional and amateur artists and graphic designers represent the collective gift of community organizations, churches, businesses and others to the residents of and visitors to Punta Gorda. Sponsored by the Punta Gorda Kiwanis, Christmas Card Lane is one of Punta Gorda's many fun Christmas events you will not want to miss.
The Christmas Cards are judged and winners are awarded in several categories. Winning cards will then have ribbons displayed on the card. Christmas Card Lane will be on display in Gilchrist Park from December 5 through January 2. See last year's winners.
