Harvey Goldberg reconfirmed as Mayor of Punta Gorda and other City Council News

Harvey Goldberg, Punta Gorda Mayor

Among other things at the City Council meeting last week on November 3, 2010. Council Members Charles Wallace (District 1), Rachel Keesling (District 2), and Harvey Goldberg (District 4) were sworn into office for two year terms.  Mayor Goldberg was also reconfirmed as Mayor, Bill Albers as Vice Mayor.

City Council also agreed on the language  for an ordinance banning the use of vehicles solely for advertising.  The Council approved on first reading an ordinance prohibiting the parking of vehicles with signs, graphics, printing which are used primarily for advertising and visible from the public right-of-way. The approved language is similar to that included in City Code prior to 2005. The second reading of the ordinance will occur on November 17.

City Council also decided not to add an annual fire alarm fee.  The Council re-addressed the false alarm reduction program and eliminated part of the proposal that initiated an annual alarm registration fee.
