1st Big Weekend of Season in Punta Gorda -- Some Goings On and Entertainment

The snowbirds are back and with them arrives the intensity of Punta Gorda's winter with increasing entertainment choices. More of the night spots and bistros are adding live music, the Celtic Ray and Cafe Ruelle for instance.  Here's what's happening:

Tonight

At the Visual Arts Center  wine and cheese reception for the Annual Photo Expo starts at 7 p.m
At Cafe Ruelle (off Marion Av.) Michael Hirst sings James Taylor, Jimmy Buffet and more from 7-9 p.m.
At Fishville  Patchouli performs eclectic and variety music, 5-9 pm, Center Stage
At Harpoon Harry's ( Slick Willy starts at 9 p.m.
At Biehl's Slip Not Sammy J and the Guys start at 8 p.m.
At the Punta Gorda Elks (members) Sound Investment for dancing and listening.


Saturday, January 8 -- Day


Downtown City Wide Garage Sale  8 am - 12 Noon in parking lot of Centennial Bank and Koch, Zeman & Walsh CPA's.
At Gilchrist Park Annual Snowbirds Arts and Craft Show 10-4 p.m
Saturday, January 8 -- Night

At Fishville Carol and Johnnie perform variety/dance music 5-9 pm, Center Stage
At Harpoon Harry's (at Fishermen's Village) Slick Willy starts at 9 p.m.

At Biehl's Slip Not  The Crashers start at 8 p.m.
At the Punta Gorda Elks (members) Sundown for dancing and listening.
At the Celtic Ray Chris Morgan performs at 8.
