Annual Hibiscus Festival Shows off the Best of Punta Gorda's Blooms



The Annual Festival celebrating the City's Flower -- the Hibiscus starts tonight with a full schedule of entertaining bands and continues into Saturday with countless displays of gorgeous blooms, tantalizing foods and over 12 bands performing. Here’s the rundown on the Festival at Gilchrist Park.

Friday: 

5:30 p.m. - Mac Martin’s Invitational Jam

6:30 p.m. - Single Minded

7:15 p.m. - Beaches

8:15 p.m. - Chakulla

9 p.m. - Cheeky Monkey



Saturday: 



8 a.m. - Hundreds of exotic hibiscus plants on display, including “Champagne Dream, featured blossom. Curt Sinclair, local grower and national president of the American Hibiscus Society, will present the blooms and explain how to care for them.

9 a.m. - David Ross

9:50 a.m. - Welcome by John Wright and the mayor

10 a.m. – Lil’ Miss Hibiscus Contest at the Punta Gorda Women’s Club 118 Sullivan  

Street

10 a.m. - Beaches

11 a.m. - Joe Virga Noon - Lil’ Miss Hibiscus winners / announcement

12:30 p.m. - Paul Cotrell

1 p.m. C. Knight and The All Stars

2:30 p.m. - till end Punta Gorda Guitar Army
