What no Bread! A Day at the Farmer's Market..
Why I waited until 11 o'clock to get the Farmer's Market to pick up my current favorite bread -- a dense, grainy, delectable loaf sold at the German Bread stand I don't know. Maybe I thought that it was an undiscovered treat that would be waiting for me no matter how late I got there. Wrong. "Sold out," the pleasant lady at the stand said sadly. Well.... I guess I will have to settle for some of your wonderful pretzel rolls, I said. But.... that bread.. In the meantime another woman and her husband jolted up to the stand for the bread. When she learned that it was gone, her face dropped and she grimaced "I came all the way here just for the bread... ever slice is like a meal in itself."

They recently took a stand in the Punta Gorda Farmer's Market bringing their fresh baked breads, pretzels, rolls, strudel (which by the way was also sold out by 11) and other German goodies to our town. (Iris tells me they will also be here for the Punta Gorda Oktoberfest on October 7.)
Of course, we also had other options at the Market -- the cakes and breads of the Italian stand, for instance:
