Punta Gorda Airport Control Tower to be Staffed for Mid-February Open

According to U.S. Rep. Tom Rooney's website the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) will begin staffing the new air traffic control tower at the Punta Gorda Airport next week, paving the way for the tower to become operational in mid-February.

“I’m excited to announce that FAA will soon begin staffing our new air traffic control tower in Punta Gorda, so that after years of hard work, we can finally get this project off the ground,” Rooney said. “The Punta Gorda Airport is a prime location for business and recreational travel, but it’s been limited by restrictions placed on airports that don’t have a control tower. By opening this air traffic control tower, we can improve safety while bringing more airlines, more traffic, and more revenue to the region – and that means more jobs.”
