This year's Punta Gorda Halloween in the historic residential district witnessed home and garden recreations of a Star Wars battle, Alice's Wonderland, spooky cemeteries and graveyards, a Halloween ghoulish photo op station, a haunting Charleston-style mansion, a Frankenstein monster house and more haunting settings.
During the evening the Punta Gorda Kiwanis handed out glow sticks, the Baptist Church gave out goodie bags and faux tattoos, and the tradition of Gilchrist was continued by the Masons who gave trick or treaters yummy ice cream sandwiches. All the while as the evening progressed, pirates, fairies, princesses, ghouls, chickens, a "hot" dog or two, lots of Star Wars type creatures, ghosts, walking vegetables, witches and other creatures wandered the streets of Punta Gorda's historic downtown. Some of the more unique costumes included a group of geeks, young ladies dressed as drive-in diner roller skarting waitresses, an extraordinarily cute Ragedy Anne, and an amazingly beautiful peacock.
