Charlotte Stars will be Dancing at Local Fundraiser for the Arts and Humanities Council

This Friday, March 1 Punta Gorda will host at the Charlotte County Event Center a local version of Dancing with the Stars.  Six local Charlotte County celebrities will be dancing to raise funds for the Arts and Humanities Council. The stars are Jessica Boles, Charlotte Behavioral Health Care; Michael Hearn, Florida Weekly; Captain Dennis Kirk, Nav-A-Gator Grille; Rev. Bill Klossner; Blair Lovejoy, Florida Blood Bank; and attorney Cheyenne Young.

Assisting with choreography and dance partners are: Florida Dance Workshop, Higher Ground Performing Arts and the Arthur Murrray Studio. DJ Dan will provide the music. The dance partners of the six celebrities include Rolando Cabrera and Kathleen Candales of Higher Ground Performing Arts both who have participated every year since the inception of DWTCS in 2009. Members of the Florida Dance Workshop Brittany Davenport and Clint Thompson are first-timers as dance partners of the Charlotte Celebrity dancers. This is the second year for the Arthur Murray Dance Studio with Charles McCaffrey and Dana Kiner — and their first year partnering.

The Charlotte Celebrity dancers will be awarded the Judges Award and the People’s Choice Award
Judging the stars’ performances will be Toni Simpson, Kevin Van Nostrand, Mitzi Rigden and John Perez.  The show emcees are Mike Riley and Celene Galvin.

Tickets are $75 and include the show, hors d’oeuvres, dinner and cash bar.  You can buy tickets and/or vote for your favorite star at www.charlottearts.org.
