All Hallows Eve and the Place to be is Punta Gorda's Historic Residential District - It's Spooky Out There

Tonight, one of the spookiest nights of the year, is not just a time for kids.  While the Punta Gorda downtown historic area will be overwhelmed with a flood of little ghosts, witches, goblins trick or treaters, and such, adults also  join the spectacle , either by creating a full experential Halloween event in their backyard or by outfitting themselves and joining the parade often giving rather than getting Halloween treats.

The annual trick-or-treat occurs mostly between Retta Esplanade and Olympia, north/south and Harvey and Berry, east/west.  And for a few ghostly hours, typically starting around 4:30 p.m. or so for the very little ones and growing older as the night sets in, kids and kids-at-heart wander the streets absorbing and delighting at the Halloween displays.

The Punta Gorda Police Department will also get into the act.  On the first floor of the City Hall Annex garage off Harvey Street, city employees and Council members will be giving out candy in costume.

And don't forget to check out Governor's Gilchrist annual gift in front of the gazebo in Gilchrist Park from about 5:30 p.m. -- ice cream.
