Florida Frontier Days Festival This Weekend at the History Park

Over five million sunsets have blazed over our harbor since the first Native Americans began arriving here over 14,000 years ago.   Our country's written history commenced with the arrival of the Spanish to Florida. Our state is on the first land in the United States to be settled by Europeans. The beginning of the American Frontier began here in 1513.

At Florida Frontier Days this weekend ( Friday and Saturday) at the History Park in Punta Gorda you can celebrate Florida's part in our founding and our area's role in the settlement of the state with such activities as pioneer trades, trailblazing entertainment, games, foods, hands-on activities – dip candles, braid cloth, or make a kite and more.  You can experience games and activities and see artisans, craftsmen, and re- enactors in the festival’s Frontier Village bring Florida’s past to life and portray historical figuresfrom our past.

The 21st Florida Frontier Days Festival will be held at the Punta Gorda History Park, 501 Shreve Street in Punta Gorda, a new location for this year. The festival is open to the public from 9:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Friday, February 24 and from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 25. Daily admission fee is just $3 for adults and $2 for children under 12. For more information, call Frank Desguin at (941) 769-1270 or visit  www.CharlotteFl.com.
