Good News just released from Charlotte County Commissioner Tricia Duffy:
Cheney Brothers, a large food service distributor based in West Palm Beach has put in a bid on a piece of county-owned property near the Punta Gorda Airport. They were the sole bidder offering $2.5 million for this property. The company plans to build a food distribution plant, which is expected to create 400-500 jobs in sales, safety, security, IT and more. The construction of the Cheney plant is estimated to cost $25 million and will spur the need for many construction jobs in the area. They have promised to use all local companies.
The commission will be voting on the sale of this land at the County Commission meeting next week.
