Visual Arts Center's 8th Biennial Art Exhibtion February 4-March 11 2012

The Visual Arts Center of Punta Gorda in preparation for the 8th biennial National Art Exhibit to be held at the Center February 4 through March 11 of 2012 is calling for artist entries.

One of the nation’s most prestigious juried exhibitions of traditional two-dimensional media, this show is produced every other year to benefit the programs and artists of the Charlotte County Art Guild, a non-profit league since 1961.  The VAC has announced that one of the jurists for this show will be Dean Mitchell, considered one of America's greatest watercolorists. Mr. Mitchell has exhibited in the nation’s most prestigious museum invitationals including the Prix de West in Oklahoma City and the Autry National Center’s Masters of the American West.  His art can be found in corporate and museum collections across the country, including the Library of Congress

The show dates coincide with  Punta Gorda's largest seasonal population and is expected to draw art enthusiasts and buyers from all over Southwest Florida and beyond due to Punta Gorda's central location on the Southwest coast of Florida and proximity to both Naples and Sarasota and attraction as a destination with excellent hotels and restaurants and art and shopping venues.
