Charlotte Chorale to Perform Annual Christmas Concert December 5

The Charlotte Chorale will kick off this holiday season with a "Christmas Tide" concert at  4 p.m., Sunday, December 5th at the Center for Performing Arts and Education, 701 Carmalita St., Punta Gorda.

In its 22nd season under the baton of Artistic Director R. Bruce MacGregor,  the Chorale performs a Christmas concert each year -- and it's one of their concert series.  This year's concert will feature many wonderful Christmas sounds including: ‘Christmastide (Jessye’s Carol),’ ‘Oh Holy Night,’ ‘Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas,’ ’Joyful and Triumphant,’ ‘Mary Did You Know,’ the new work ‘Carol of the Magi’ and more. Contemporary works will include: ‘Christmas On Broadway’ a medley of popular carols, ‘Home for the Holidays,’ ‘The Very Best Time of Year,’ and the song for Hanukkah, ‘Light the Candles of Freedom.’

The ever popular audience sing-along will have greater significance this year according to Artistic Director, R. Bruce MacGregor, who describes a unique opportunity, “We’re recording this concert ‘live’ in order to produce a new Christmas CD just in time for the holidays. Not only will folks be able to order a CD that evening we want the audience to know they will be part of the recording. We’ll ask everyone there to work with us in producing a truly memorable sound.” The crew from ‘Lights Out!’ will be charged with handling the technical challenges of this production.

The Chorale will be accompanied by a chamber orchestra and Angela Navarro, pianist/organist. Concert-goers will be welcomed to the Center by the Chorale’s Dicken’s carolers wearing traditional costumes hand crafted by Caroline MacGregor. For information about engaging the Dicken’s singers for parties, etc. call 204-0033.

Concert tickets are $20 for adults, $10 for students and may be ordered immediately from The Charlotte Chorale at PO Box 494451, Port Charlotte, FL 33949. Tickets can also be purchased at C&R Graphics or by calling 204-0033. www.charlottechorale.com
