We have a lot to be thankful for this Thanksgiving as we gather on our various lanais enjoying our turkey near our swimming pools. How fortunate we are. Sure some of us aren't always as near family as we might like to be on this holiday -- and somehow Skype just doesn't cut it. And this year was probably economically tough for most of us -- some more than others. But there is so much for us Punta Gordans to be thankful for:
- Being alive -- that's always the top one
- Having family and friends -- if family isn't close having plenty of people who are willing to be your friend
- Being in such an astonishingly wondrous area of the country where the weather is balmy, the people are friendly or at least friendlier (they're not freezing in the Dakotas or Minnesota), and the living is easier (no heavy coats, scarfs, bitter winds).
- Having food to put on the table or if times are really tough having the generosity of a community that will help provide it
- Having health, if you do, and being able to maintain it with plenty of access to outdoor exercise, nutrition, medical care or at least being about to keep healthy as possible for your situation.
- Living in a free country ... where you can, even when times are tough, find a way
- Being major-hurricane free for another years (keep fingers crossed on this one)
- Having the technology at our finger tips that allows us to live in Punta Gorda and communicate with family, friends, business associates and the world and get access to whatever information or goods we need
- Having our town majestically transformed in such a short time to a showcase location that we can all be very proud to say we belong there!
Happy Thanksgiving! Hope you have a lot to be thankful for.
