Renaissance Academy in Herald Court Punta Gorda -- New Classes start in January

New winter classes start at the Renaissance Academy in Herald Court on Tuesday, January 4.  Here is a list of some of the courses coming up.

Battle of Gettysburg

January 4, Tuesday 10:00 AM - 11:30 AM

In this interactive class, the events leading up to the battle will be discussed. Find out who the individuals were that played a major role in this combat and hear descriptions of the various engagements. This class will be enlivened by role playing, a fun and participatory way to keep this part of history alive.

  Designing a Beaded Treasure

January 5, Wednesday, 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM

This class will begin by creating a color palette using

semi-precious and other types of stones. Also, you will be incorporating horn, bone and metal beads into your creation. Brenda will work one-on-one with you to explore options for arrangement, color and texture patterns. You will explore the tools, findings and materials available to assemble your piece. you will have the opportunity to to string your treasure and finish off the ends adding clasps. Feel free to bring beads and crimps of your own. If not, a kit will be provided. At the end of this class, you will walk away with a one-of-a-kind treasure.Instructor:  Ms. Brenda BerdnikCourse Fee:  $25: 

Belly Dance Your Way to Fitness

Wednesdays,  Jan. 5, 12, 19, 26 and Feb. 2,9, 16, 23    6:30 PM - 7:30 PM

Looking for a fun, low impact way to stay fit? Join us at Herald Court Centre for these weekly one-hour classes. Each session begins with gentle yoga stretches followed by basic belly dancing movements that combine to provide a mild aerobic workout. The course uses ethnic music from around the world and includes instruction on the history and origins of the dance movements. You  need to wear loose, comfortable clothing.
