A Christmas Gallery Walk This Thursday

"City sidewalks, city sidewalks dressed in holiday fare" will bring a feeling of Christmas to Gallery Walk this Thursday night 5-8 p.m. downtown Punta Gorda.   Artists will be demonstrating their work,  food samplings and drink sips will be offered and sidewalk entertainers will fill the air with Christmas and other tunes for your amusement.

Also, if you spot tiny, hand-made angel ornaments around Gallery Walk, consider buying one to help raise funds for Voices for Kids, which ensures that every abused, abandoned and neglected child has a court appointed Guardian ad Litem and provides resources for the children’s health, education and social needs.  Downtown merchants are also running a One Hundred Dollar (DMA Bucks worth $100) drawing chance to anyone who brings a gift or a donation for the Guardian ad Litem program. Pick up your entry form at the downtown businesses.

This week the Yoga Sanctuary is hosting a community class during Gallery Walk where you can learn more about their program. Sandy Pond, a local, very creative, artist will be on hand to share her clay creations.

Sea Grape Gallery invites you to share a sip of Christmas Punch while you watch their demonstrations. Jim Beech, their featured watercolor artist for December, will demonstrate how to do a complete watercolor, using cyan, magneta and yellow – a complete painting using only three colors.  Barbara Simmons, featured silver and stone jewelry artist, will show the art of making chain maille bracelets with special emphasis on variations of the byzantine pattern. Sea Grape artists have been busy creating hand-made ornaments for this week's gallery show.

TEAM Punta Gorda will be at Gallery Walk with Santa, clown face painting, story-telling, Christmas carols and cookies and hot cider.  Find Team members and Santa at Herald Court Park or Florida Gulf Coast University.

Note that  Knit Wit Studios  has moved from the Atelier to their new, larger shop at 3318 Tamiami Trail, just north of the Ice House.  You will though find many other artists  and  bead specialists with jewelry and art works to show and sell.   And at Creative Circle Studio and Gallery, owner, Lise Lindsay set up a special workshop to help create the Guardian ad Litem angels, so you ask her how it was done.
