While I guess I feel somewhat bad for the tourists or snow birds who have just arrived in Punta Gorda this week on an escape from northern cold only to discover that the nip in the air had seemingly followed them here, I have to point out that these January cold spells albeit not what one dreams about when thinking "Florida" are brief and by the end of the week a mere wisp of memory when our balmy weather returns to the comfy mid-70s during the day and mid 50s at night.
Historically average maximum temps in Punta Gorda in January run in the mid-70s and go into the 80s some years while average minimum temps rarely drop below 50. And most importantly, no snow! And no icy roads to deal with. So when you think of complaining about a mere blip on the meteorological scale, remember your not slippin' and slidin', your not shovelin' and your not going to be shiverin' very long..... And it only gets better.
