A Phantasmagoria of Light and Delight at Punta Gorda History Park Now through the Weekend 5-9 p.m.

More than 120 years ago, it was a man who spent a lot of time in southwest Florida, Thomas Edison, who created the very first strand of electric light bulbs for use as a Christmas decoration.  Not surprisingly our land of light and no snow loves to whiten and brighten our nights with these lighted displays. This year, once again, the History Park fittingly has lit up its grounds and houses in a phantasmagoria of light and volunteers have adorned the homes with ornamented trees as well as many unusual and historic Christmas decorations and toys.

The guides who docent the decorated houses  not only provide insights into the houses themselves but very intriguing tidbits about Punta Gorda history. This is a unique opportunity to take a glimpse into a window of the past all decked out for the holidays.  There is  hot cocoa as well as other food items on site.

Visit now through Sunday between 5 and 9 and prepare to be enchanted.  Donation is $10/adults; children under 12 are free. Call 941-639-1887 for more information.
