Christmas with the Celts is Tuesday Night -- Now it's really Punta Gorda Christmas!
When the bagpiper quietly comes into the Church and the lovely, familiar refrains of Celtic Christmas songs begins, you know it's Christmas even though it's not snowing outside. Punta Gorda Christmas takes on a special note this Tuesday night with the annual arrival of Marcille Wallis & Friends for "Christmas with the Celts" at the United Congregational Church of Christ
The concert features Celtic music and dance incorporating favorite Christmas Carols -- a mix of Irish, Scottish, Welsh, Cornish and Appalachian song. This is an annual Christmas tradition featuring guitars, the dulcimer, bagpipes, flutes, mandolins, fiddles and lively dancing. Not to miss is the rendition of Auld Lange Syne on the bagpipes and singalongs of sentimental favorites and other Christmas Carols.
The group includes 2008 Florida State Bluegrass Fiddle Champion Matt Miller, who is absolutely amazing. I have never seen anyone fiddle this fast. Also sensational is multi-instrumentalist/ vocalist Don Pigeon. New to this year’s production is world champion Irish dancer Jaime Knaub.
